New: Announcing Dwelement's Shop for Inspiration!
Mar 30, 2010
I'm back! I've sure had a lot going on the last couple of weeks. It's all converging on me now, in one gigantic to-do list. One of the reasons I've been blog-deficient in the past week is that I've been cooking up a sweet new addition to dwelement.com: a store! Yep, a real live online shopping experience with items I've carefully chosen to make your homes more beautiful and functional.
Announcing the new Dwelement online store:
Shop for Inspiration
Browse and buy with confidence. This store is powered by Amazon, and should you choose to purchase an item, your order will be processed, shipped, and serviced by Amazon.com. So why shop here? Because I've done all the hard work for you, that's why! I've combed through the sea of stuff to pick out pieces that are good values, and good performers based on my own experience in many cases. I've mixed and matched varied pieces to create four "looks" with more to come! So you don't have to worry about looking too matchy-matchy or choosing things that don't go together.
There's a selection of good books, most of which I own and love. And if I don't own them, they're on my wish list. They cover home design, architecture, decorating, DIY projects, natural landscaping, and color theory. I've also put together a bevy of organizational tools that are actually worth using (since so much of that stuff just becomes clutter in itself). And lastly, choose from several cleaning products that have less impact on the environment. Note that many of these are sold by the case, so don't freak out at the prices!
Well, enjoy! Poke around and let me know what you think. Is there a Look you'd like me to add? I'll be working on that now and then, so speak up in the comments below and I'll make a collection to suit your taste. Questions? Just email me. —Diane
UPDATE: I'm now aware of a glitch with items from Amazon's external stores… some of these items come up as unavailable. Working on a fix!

Mar 04, 2010
You may already have noticed that Inspired Room Design is now called Dwelement Home Design! I'm excited about the change but bummed that Facebook made me start my fan page from scratch instead of simply changing the name.
So, to fill the new page with creative, budget-decor fans like you, I'm running a contest. If you are one of the first 250 fans, you'll be entered to win a free eDecor Plan! And all of the first 250 will receive a 10% discount code, but not until the goal is reached. So click on over, and then invite your friends who might enjoy a daily dose of decor inspiration. The sooner we hit 250, the sooner the goodies will be passed out. :) Thanks for your loyalty and readership! —Diane
Here's the tally so far…

Big news: Inspired Room Design gets a new name!
Feb 15, 2010
Inspired Room Design officially launched in June 2009. I chose the name because I thought that the word "inspired" said a lot about my style as a designer and problem-solver. Problem is, a lot of other designers think it says something about their style, too. The word is commonly used and in some contexts, even trademarked. I won't go into the details, but let's just say the lawyers think it's much smarter for me to have a name that's unique and different, one that's never been devised by my colleagues or competitors.
So I present, with all the same service, personality, content, and focus on your style:
Dwelement says just as much, if not more, about my design style. To dwell in a place is more than just living there. It implies a certain satisfaction, a feeling of being at home, comfortable in one's element. My goal is always to create such a feeling for my clients. A room should reflect a person's style, but also feed their soul. That's why good interior design is important even if no one sees your space but you.
You won't notice much of a difference, really, on the site or the blog— just a new logo and a new URL: dwelement.com. The old URL will redirect for a few months, plenty of time for you to change your bookmarks.
The real kicker is that if you already follow me on Facebook, you'll need to fan me again on my new page. Irritating, I know, but Facebook does not allow business pages to change their names, so I have to start from scratch. :( I'd really appreciate your help in building my fan base there. I try to keep the posts minimal and interesting! There are incentives for doing this…
Become a fan of Dwelement on Facebook, get a discount code and a chance to win a free eDecor Plan!
The first 250 fans who follow Dwelement Home Design on Facebook will receive a discount code, good for 10% off any online or in-home service through 2010. I'll send out the codes in a private message to everyone after the 250 mark has been reached.
In addition, one of the first 250 fans will win a free eDecor Plan for a single room under 500 square feet! ($500 value)
Click here to fan Dwelement and enter to win.
Thanks for putting up with this minor disruption, and for your devoted readership and business during my start-up months. I think in the long run this change will mean even better things to come.—Diane
